Hello friends, friendly followers, and other denizens of tumblr!
I’m sure you have all seen these reblog contests before, and this one really isn’t anything new. I run a small business making and selling handmade books to be used as journals or sketchbooks or just to sit on your bookshelf being pretty. So far it has just been a side hobby, but I’m about to graduate from college in a few weeks and am hoping to expand this into a full-time job.
At this point, I can’t afford to pay for advertising and still sell my books at the prices I want. I want them to be affordable for people like me (college students on a budget) but at the current quantities I’m making, I can’t afford to raise my costs without raising the price as well.
So that is where you come in. I’m relying on you, my lovely followers and fellow book-lovers of tumblr, to help spread the word so I can keep making books! And while I can’t afford to pay you directly for hitting the reblog button, I can offer you an incentive: the chance to win a handmade book delivered right to your door for Christmas! And if Christmas isn’t your thing, then just for being awesome!
AND, so that your chances don’t diminish when you repost this, the number of books I give away will increase the more people reblog this! So spread it as much as possible without fear that your followers will steal the book that should have been yours! For every ten people that reblog this, I will give away one book — that means you have a ten percent chance of getting a free book just by hitting reblog!
You don’t need to follow me or anything (although it would be great if you did!) in order to win; anyone who has reblogged this post by December 18th will be entered and the winners randomly drawn.
Thank you, and good luck!
tl;dr reblog for free books!
Hey guys I know some of you have books coming already, but I’m doing one of those annoying reblog contests for my bookbinding blog and if you could spread the word that would be great!

- on the topic of stars: wishes -
Stars must keep a careful balance when it comes to wishes. The cosmic powers— or the Powers that Be— demand from them, like other forces in the universe, to keep good and evil level. They demand that an equal number of wishes of equal weight be denied as there are granted. There must be innocents to suffer and tainted to prosper just as there are innocents who flourish and tainted who don’t. However, stars are as varied as humans with personalities spanning from the cold, effective judge to the bleeding heart. In order for the cosmic balance to be strictly enforced, the greater powers could not simply rely on their word to be followed. Instead, they have woven the necessity into the very being of stars.
ethereal—moon started following you

“Hello!” the star spoke, eyeing the newest person with wide eyes and raised brows and fingers curled into fists close to her chest.

His head would swivel round to cast the ultramarine cores of his face on the wandering female. This complacent tone awash on the pale features that stretched to all salient forms. A keen visage did this bard hold, autumunal threads brushing over those beryl lakes that dipped themselves into curiosity. An all too swift reaction to her equally hasty question. Her tense presentation that accompanied such sublime verse was all too strange. And he found it difficult to discern whether he should bring upon a more guarded stance or simply to welcome this alluring maiden into his presence.
Quite the gentleman on occasions, the corner of his lips pricked a blithe grin that gently erased all the bewilderment that invaded every corner of his being. He allowed the rest of his tall frame to pivot and present itself more directly, the scarlet garments following in their loose dance with the thumping of leather against subtle breezes.
“To wish upon a star? Such actions are rare when I hail from a world when even the starlight was hidden by smog. Perhaps when I was a child. But recently? I’m afraid not.” quaint whispers escorted his answer, unwavering and well-spoken as was the norm.
She cocked her head, playing spectator to the changing expressions upon the man’s visage. As she did— and found nothing that suggested her next move should be to run— her muscles began to unwind. Hunched shoulders dropped. Clenched fists unfurled. When a smile was offered, the star returned it two-fold, her lips parting to flash teeth and the corners of her eyes crinkling.
And then it all disappeared as quickly as it formed. “You cannot see the stars?” She furrowed her brows. “That’s not very good. No wonder you feel the way that you do. How can you gain what you desire if you do not have a chance to wish for it?”
